What You’ll Do
As a Residential Framer, you’ll play a key role in constructing high-quality custom homes and renovations from the ground up. You’ll work closely with Site Supervisors and other crew members to ensure framing is precise, safe, and completed on schedule. Attention to detail, strong carpentry skills, and a solid understanding of residential building methods are essential. Your responsibilities will include:
Arrive early to ensure the site is ready for immediate productivity
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and building plans
Measure, cut, and assemble wood framing for floors, walls, and roofs
Install windows, doors, stairs, and other structural components
Build and set forms for concrete as needed
Work with engineered products such as LVLs, trusses, and joists
Collaborate with the team to identify and solve issues on the fly
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite
Work alongside sub-trades to ensure smooth, coordinated project flow
Log daily work and updates using Buildertrend construction software
Contribute to team success by stepping in wherever needed within your skill set
Maintain tools and equipment in working order
Perform daily hazard assessments and participate in weekly toolbox meetings
Follow all Ackard safety protocols, standards, and procedures, and adhere to building codes and regulations
What You Bring
We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about their work, eager to contribute to a team, and committed to delivering high-quality results.
3+ years of wood framing experience in residential construction (custom or renovation experience necessary)
Solid knowledge of framing techniques, layout, and materials
Ability to read construction drawings and take accurate measurements
Experience using power tools, saws, and framing equipment safely and effectively
Strong work ethic, reliability, and pride in workmanship
Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying conditions
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Journeyman or Apprentice Carpenter status is an asset, but not required.
Working Conditions
This position involves hands-on work in both interior and exterior residential construction environments. Team members must be comfortable working in variable conditions and adapting to the physical demands of a dynamic job site.
Work takes place on residential renovation and custom home build sites
Frequent and routine work at heights, including on ladders, scaffolding, roofs, and elevated platforms
Exposure to all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow
Regular lifting of materials up to 50 lbs; occasional assisted lifts up to 75 lbs
Physically demanding tasks such as standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and handling tools
Work may be performed in confined, elevated, dusty, or noisy environments
Regular use of power tools, hand tools, ladders, and scaffolding is expected
Appropriate PPE must be worn at all times (hard hat, safety boots, eye and ear protection)
Standard schedule: Monday to Friday, daytime hours
Minimal overtime and no out-of-town travel
