Job Description
The Director of Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all facets of manufacturing operations within a dynamic electronics production environment. This individual will drive operational excellence across manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and continuous improvement functions. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and hands-on leader who ensures efficient production, high-quality output, cost optimization, and alignment with business goals. This role reports directly to senior leadership and plays a critical part in shaping the company’s growth, scalability, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Operations Leadership
Develop and execute long-term operational strategies to support business growth and customer satisfaction.
Align manufacturing capabilities with evolving market demands, emerging technologies, and corporate objectives.
Lead operational readiness for New Product Introductions (NPI), ensuring manufacturability and seamless production ramp-up.
Manufacturing Excellence
Oversee production performance across multiple sites or business units, setting and monitoring targets for efficiency, yield, and throughput.
Champion lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Industry 4.0 initiatives to drive innovation, automation, and productivity.
Implement governance frameworks and performance dashboards to monitor and improve key operational metrics.
Supply Chain & Global Operations
Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and product management to align supply chain strategies with product lifecycle requirements.
Optimize sourcing, logistics, and inventory management to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery.
Quality, Compliance & Risk Management
Proactively identify and mitigate operational risks, including compliance, capacity, and supply chain disruptions.
Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement and operational accountability.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485, IATF 16949, IPC standards), as well as environmental health and safety regulations.
People & Organizational Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, including frontline managers and individual contributors.
Drive talent development, succession planning, and a culture of safety, innovation, and engagement.
Promote cross-functional collaboration and operational transparency.
Financial & Business Impact
Manage operational budgets, capital expenditures, and financial performance of manufacturing operations.
Drive cost reduction, margin improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives.
Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning, forecasting, and aligning operational KPIs with corporate goals.
Essential Skills:
10+ years of experience in manufacturing environments
Progressive leadership experience from frontline roles to Director level
Proven success scaling operations and building cross-functional teams
Development and implementation of operational frameworks, KPIs, and performance matrices
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (Black Belt preferred)
Hands-on experience in lean manufacturing environments
Deep knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes (SMT, THT, PCB assembly, box build, testing)
Demonstrated impact through operational strategies that improved efficiency, quality, and financial performance
Track record of continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives
Intermediate Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP/ZLOOKUP)
ERP system experience (Oracle preferred)
Strong vendor management and global sourcing expertise
Experience with ISO standards and quality management systems
Controlled Goods clearance – required
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in medical device or regulated manufacturing environments
Knowledge of ISO 13485, IATF 16949, IPC standards
Hands-on experience with Oracle ERP systems
Controlled Goods clearance or eligibility
Background in multi-site or global operations
Exposure to digital transformation initiatives
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification
Specific experience with PCB manufacturing and emerging electronics trends
Broader ERP system exposure beyond Oracle
Multi-site or global operations leadership experience

The pay range for this position is $160000.00 - $170000.00/yr.

This is a fully onsite position in Burnaby,BC.
