Position Details
Role: Registered Veterinary Technician
Status: Full-time
Salary: Negotiable and based on experience
Schedule: 4 days a week with rotating weekends.One 12 hour shift a week.

Specific Duties:
Examination Room assistance
Pre-Examination procedures including weighing the animal and recording the weight on the treatment records, taking the temperature of the animal, the medical history and the recent complaint.
Animal restraint, as necessary. Animal injections under supervision.
Admission and Discharge procedures.
Technical skills or knowledge of physical examinations, patient assessment, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, radiology, venipuncture, and pharmacy preferred
Surgical assistance
Cleaning, packing and autoclave of all surgical instruments after use and maintaining proper inventory in surgery.
Assist receptionist when necessary and assume receptionist duties as per hospital needs
Ensure all patients are clean and dry.
Perform routine laboratory tests including, but not limited to, blood counts, urinalysis, blood glucose, fungal cultures and fecal examinations as ordered by attending veterinarian.
Check in-patients and report to the attending veterinarian.
Assist in administration of anaesthetics and monitor patients during surgery and recovery. Properly record treatment in treatment records writing legibly.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels of medical supplies.
Ensure post-discharge instructions are provided to clients and telephone follow-up of patients within two days of discharge, unless otherwise directed by attending veterinarian.
Dental cleanings.
Celebrate birthdays, new babies, anniversaries, and other life events because they're important!
Demonstrate professionalism and respect to colleagues and clients
Other duties as required
Qualifications:
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certification in Ontario
Hands-on experience as a Veterinary Technician preferred
Strong knowledge of veterinary nursing procedures, anesthesia, dentistry, and laboratory diagnostics
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
