Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

Security Supervisor – Summary of Duties
Security Supervisors hold a senior position relative to Team Leaders and Patrol Guards during their assigned shifts. Their primary responsibilities include overseeing the patrolling of unmanned facilities after hours and supervising on-duty security personnel. The Security Supervisor serves as the key liaison between Control Operators and Patrol staff, ensuring effective communication during alarms, emergencies, and personnel-related incidents across all sites. Additionally, Security Supervisors provide support at the AMD Markham – 1 Commerce Valley location when needed.
The Security Supervisor is responsible for collecting and maintaining comprehensive shift activity reports for the Contract Manager and the Client, ensuring all operations are conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures. Supervisors are also expected to actively participate in staff training and provide performance counseling when necessary to support continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct thorough shift briefings and debriefings to ensure seamless transitions.
Coordinate and assign extra and special duties to security personnel as required.
Review and audit sign-in logs, security reports, key control records, receiving logs, equipment logs, and notebooks for accuracy; address discrepancies with the team.
Oversee all shift-related decisions and operational duties.
Draft, review, and approve incident and activity reports submitted by shift personnel.
Follow up on incident reports and conduct preliminary investigations as needed.
Monitor and report any discrepancies in posted schedules.
Ensure all staff are in full and proper uniform during their shifts.
Perform reception, Control Operator, and Patrol Guard duties as necessary.
Actively participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) to promote a safe work environment at AMD.
Manage shift coverage in response to late call-ins or early departures, optimizing overtime usage.
Train and onboard new hires as required.
Maintain a performance evaluation average of 95% or higher.
Complete and submit all daily, weekly, and monthly reports and tasks as assigned by the Contract Manager or Client.
Distribute and collect AMD Contractor onboarding packages for all new staff.
Ensure all staff meet Client expectations for professionalism, performance, and conduct.
Evaluate and document staff performance for mandatory reviews.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safeguard company personnel, assets, proprietary information, and facilities in accordance with site-specific policies and procedures.
Maintain open communication with the Contract Manager, including relaying relevant information to client representatives.
Uphold and promote the values and customer service standards of both the contracted security provider and AMD.
WE ARE EXCITED FOR YOU TO OFFER US
Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
Ontario Security Guard License (OSGL).
First Aid and CPR Certificate.
5 years security experience, plus Control Certified.
Must be able to obtain Reliability Security Clearance – minimum 5 years Canadian residency
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Flexibility to work scheduled and unscheduled hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Potential exposure to high noise levels and varying weather conditions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
