About the Team: CBC’s Business & Rights (B&R) team is at the forefront of negotiating license agreements with independent content creators and managing the business aspects of in-house productions, in English Services. We are leveraging data to drive strategic decisions and improve operational efficiency, while ushering in a suite of new systems tools to manage platform rights, financing structures, revenue shares, contracts, deliverables and more. Within B&R, the Content Data Group employs a growth mindset and empowers team members to develop new skills and collaborate effectively, which is crucial to the success of our evolving business processes. The Opportunity: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Systems and Operations Advisor to join our team. This pivotal role will work closely with the Director, B&R for the Content Data Group, and the entire B&R Advisorership, acting as a key partner in driving the evolution of our data systems and processes. Our ideal candidate embodies a unique blend of skills encompassing smart use of enterprise data systems, and proven abilities in managing complex projects. The ultimate objective is to make a significant impact on operational efficiency, as well as data-driven decisionmaking. Key Responsibilities: Strategic System Implementation & Integration: With respect to B&R, Advisor and support the implementation and integration of new core systems, including revised rights and contract management systems (both in-house created, and vendor-supplied), a financial payment system with Oracle at its foundation, working with CBC’s IT professionals to ensure a seamless data flow and process alignment across systems, where appropriate. Act as a key liaison with IT, Finance, French Services, and other internal and external stakeholders on projects related to system transitions and innovations. Data Management & Reporting Excellence: Support team members and champion the robust accuracy of data within contract management and other systems, minimizing the need for "fixes" and ensuring data integrity throughout the data journey. Where needed, contribute to the design and refinement of new interfaces and workflows. Contribute to the generation of quarterly data reports and presentations on production business data, with a specific focus on rights and financing trends across fiscal years, using Microsoft PowerBI, Cognos and other tools. Explore and experiment with AI tools to enhance data analysis, guide creation, and research capabilities, while understanding their limitations. Assist Director to pinpoint opportunities for team members to collaborate on more projects, bringing together diverse groups from within and outside the Content Data Group, on projects such as managing ContentID in the YouTube backend for CBC branded entertainment channels. Support initiatives related to data collection on diverse key creative personnel and privacy protection, as well as on environmental sustainability, accessibility, and other initiatives in which the department is involved. Qualifications: Prior experience in project management, particularly with large-scale system implementations and integrations, would be a particularly useful asset when examining ease-of-use, and efficiency, for B&R team members. Strong understanding of data systems, data governance, and reporting methodologies. Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences. Proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement. Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Cognos, Google Looker Studio) and data visualization techniques. Familiarity with AI tools and their application in data analysis and content management. In-depth knowledge of the media business, including rights management, content financing, and production workflows, is an asset, as is experience with a broadcast management system for distributing content.
