In the role of Senior Project Manager, we'll count on you to:
Plan, direct and manage all aspects of the work of multi-disciplinary teams on small, medium and large data centre and mission critical facility projects through the schematic, design development and construction contract support phase of each project
Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
Develop, seek approval for and implement project work plans defining the scope, resources, schedule, and budget necessary to meet the needs of each project
Engage and coordinate professional staff and subconsultant and maintaining an effective and balanced project team throughout the project
Communicate proactively and, meaningfully with all project stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency
Interface closely with local municipalities and authorities having jurisdiction to ensure designs conform to with standards/codes and gain necessary approvals
Lead and Facilitate multi-stakeholder work sessions/presentations, charrettes, consultations, design reviews etc. as needed
Contribute to preparation and review of reports, design documentation and technical specifications
Implement QA/QC procedures for all deliverables
Coordinate project workload and resources through entire project development and ensure completion of tasks on schedule
Track financial aspects of projects, coordinate and adjust work efforts of the team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of approved budgets
Work with Business/Accounting Manager or Project Controller and Department Manager for project reviews and with company management as needed
Manage several work assignments/projects concurrently
Travel to and attend various external site locations and offices to participate in inspections, meetings, etc.
Comply with all relevant legislation and corporate policies/procedures
Perform other duties as needed
In addition, this role offers the opportunity to:
Play a leading role in building HDR’s Canadian data centre program by helping establish consistent delivery standards and an exceptional client experience across projects.
Mentor and coach emerging Project Managers and Coordinators, developing capability and leadership across the project delivery team.
Partner with leadership to shape program execution strategies, operational consistency, and alignment with broader mission critical goals.
Support business development by engaging with clients, contributing to proposals and RFP responses, and cultivating relationships that advance future project opportunities.
Champion a culture of collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement within the data centre team.
Preferred Qualifications
Ontario licensed P. Eng. or equivalent combination of education and experience
Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm providing services to client markets with complex and involved project approvals and implementation processes
Good interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal English communications skills
Strong computer skills and experience using the Microsoft Office suite
LEED AP or experience in sustainable design
PMP certification would be an asset
Demonstrated subject matter expertise in mechanical or electrical engineering design of building/facility systems
Additional assets include: functional familiarity with Bluebeam, MS Project
Further the position requires:
Compliance with HDR and, as applicable, contractor safety policies and procedures.
Potential attendance at job sites to support design and construction activities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field
10 years related experience
A minimum of 5 years of project management experience
Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, project management software
Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
