Job Description: Under the direction of a Program Manager and as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Social Worker provides a range of screening, triage, assessment, treatment and case coordination services to a primarily child and youth mental health and addiction population. This is a position that treats youth affected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The incumbent provides supervision to students in formal clinical practicums.

Education
Recognized Bachelor Degree in Social Work is required.
Experience
Requires a minimum of one year (postgraduate) recent recognized experience in a community mental health setting working with children, youth and families presenting with acute and chronic mental health problems.
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities
Knowledge of normal child and adolescent development and psychopathology.
Ability to identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty across a wide range of clinical presentation and formulate evidence based intervention.
Knowledge of the diversity of cultures, values and traditions and their impact on accessing mental health services.
Knowledge of a variety of intervention strategies (individual and group) for children/youth with mental health and addiction problems in a community setting, including, but not limited to: assessment, triage treatment and case management.
Ability to work in partnership within the community and possess a broad knowledge of community resources including treatment programs and support agencies.
Ability to design, initiate and conduct in service training for other professionals.
Ability to provide public education regarding children and youth and mental health concerns.
Ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary mental health team.
Ability to manage a high demand caseload and other work assignments.
Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act and other legislation that impacts the work of clinicians in a mental health setting.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal); Ability to document in a concise and timely manner.
Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems.
Other Information
Must have current practicing registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW).
Ability to work flexible hours to meet client need and operational needs.
Requires a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for use as needed.
