Job Description: Position Purpose Summary The purpose of the expectation task list is to identify and clarify what management expects from the incumbent. The following expectations and tasks will be part of the annual performance appraisals; your merit increase will be based on the level of performance in each of the following areas. Expectations may change year to year and both parties should use the annual performance appraisal to determine realistic and equitable goals and outcomes for the upcoming performance year. Key Accountabilities Ensures the general upkeep of facility such as, residents rooms, cleaning floors, washrooms, windows, dusting, collects and disposes of garbage, vacuums Checks, cleans, move, arranges and dusts furniture as required Restocks washroom supplies and distributes received material as required Spot washes accessible walls Changes linens (i.e., bedding), following hazardous materials procedures Ensure that the Family Life Resource Centre is kept in a high standard of cleanliness Read and initial Communication Log as part of a team effort to provide quality service to clients Ensure that the ‘units’ are thoroughly cleaned upon discharge of clients. This will include but not limited to: Move all furniture, sweep and mop all floors Clean stove and oven Clean and defrost refrigerator Wash and Disinfect all dishes, cooking utensils including pots and pans Disinfect beds, mattresses, window sills, storage areas Remove all food items from family units Replace all linens and kitchen equipment Unit Checks Ensure that all hallways are swept and mopped twice a week and all stairwells are kept clean and clear of ‘storage’ items Complete laundry when necessary Ensure that laundry machines are kept clean and replenish laundry soap supply Ensure that outside garbage area is kept clean and tidy and that recycling containers are used as directed. Ensure that staff washrooms are cleaned twice a week Ensure that all donations are sorted and store where appropriate Report and record all maintenance repairs in the Maintenance Request Binder Provide ‘driver’ requirements for school, program and donation pick-ups Ensure that exterior front entrance is kept clean Ensure that family clients are provided with grocery supplies Ensure that seasonal plants are watered on a regular basis Ensure that all light bulbs are replaced when necessary Ensure that housekeeping supply requirements are reported to supervisor on a timely basis Follow through with proper Fire Procedures and Safety and Security Procedures according to policy Performs other duties as assigned Organization Responsibilities Read and adhere to the Centre’s Employee Handbook and Policy and Procedure Manual Governed by Violence Against Women Act Adhere to standards that are consistent with the values & philosophy of The Salvation Army Engage in formal Evaluations Sessions with Supervisor at 3 months during first year of employment and monthly supervisions thereafter Agree to and sign Confidentiality statement Function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team Adhere to the centre’s Health and Safety Regulations Make suggestions that will improve efficiency, working conditions or procedures to Management. Represent the organization in a professional manner and attitude. Physical Requirements The performance of the job requires operating industrial cleaning equipment and tools, moping and sweeping, bending/twisting/lifting, occasional ladder work and fine motor skills The incumbent is required to lift more than 20 pounds Qualifications and Skills The successful job applicant will have completed a High School Diploma or equivalent Possess good health; physical stamina and have the ability to perform necessary tasks Knowledge in the use of cleaning supplies and equipment and storage of products Ability to function within a Christian perspective Knowledge and understanding of Crisis Intervention Ability to exercise caring authority, supportive and non-judgmental approach in working with residents Ability and maturity to work independently and under minimum supervision Possess good organizational skills Minimum one year experience Fluent in English Valid WHMIS and First Aid and CPR certification Ability to work with minimal supervision The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $18.20 to $18.20 with a maximum of $18.20. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
