Job Description: Position Purpose Summary The purpose of the expectation task list is to identify and clarify what management expects from the incumbent. The following expectations and tasks will be part of the annual performance appraisals; your merit increase will be based on the level of performance in each of the following areas. Expectations may change year to year and both parties should use the annual performance appraisal to determine realistic and equitable goals and outcomes for the upcoming performance year. Key Accountabilities Compile a list of potential housing options for clients Explore housing options in depth & document relevant intake information, application procedures and other data relating to suitability for Shelter Clients. Update Housing Registry as necessary to include new housing options Make regular, ongoing contact with housing operators concerning possible vacancies Maintain and post a list of suitable housing options Assist Clients as possible link with suitable housing & provide advocacy as needed Provide Counsellors with information regarding housing issues Meet with clients to provide guidance and information regarding all available housing options Perform any other related duties as requested by Supervisor or Administration Conduct “Information Sessions and Facility Tours” as scheduled Participate in Centre Planning sessions and other assigned tasks Represent the Centre at “Public Speaking Engagements”, Community groups and other areas as requested Actively involved in Supervision with Supervisor Actively involved in on-going Professional Development Attend Staff Meetings, Team Meetings, Case Planning Meetings and other scheduled meetings Agree to sign the Confidentiality statement Agree to sign all necessary Human Resources forms Function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team Adhere to standards that are consistent to the values and philosophy of The Salvation Army Engage in formal Evaluations Sessions with Supervisor at three (3) month during first year of employment and annually thereafter. Read and adhere to the Policy and Procedures Manual and the Employees Handbook. Make suggestions that will improve efficiency, working conditions or procedures to Management. Represent the organization in a professional manner and attitude. Education, Qualifications and Certifications Community College Certificate in Social Sciences Field Previous experience working with homeless Knowledge and understanding of Family Violence Knowledge and understanding of Mental Health Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to be independent as well as part of a team Good knowledge of community resources Certificate in First Aid/CPR and Crisis Intervention Valid Driver’s License Knowledge and understanding of and a commitment to anti-racism and anti-oppression Experience and Knowledge Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Valid WHMIS and First Aid and CPR certification Valid Class 'G' Driver's License Skills and Capabilities Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening. (Revise as Necessary – Not all Jobs Require a Vulnerable Sector Screening) Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $23.49 to $23.49 with a maximum of $23.49. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
