About the role: • The Manager of Infection Prevention and Control is responsible and accountable for coordinating and directing the Infection Prevention and Control program in accordance with current standards of practice across the organization. • Leads the team in implementing customer focused services and managing financial and human resources. • The manager is primarily responsible for the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, supervision and continuous improvement of the Infection Prevention and Control Program • Provides an environment that supports and advances professional practice. • Leads the team in implementing evidence-based practices within a patient centered care philosophy. • Is a clinical specialist functioning as a consultant, educator, role model, researcher and agent of change. • Role models professional and organizational core competencies. What you'll do: • Lead the planning, development, organization, implementation and evaluation of infection prevention and control program. • Provide infection prevention and control guidance for all areas of the hospital as directed. • Proactive prevention of dangerous infectious agents such as viruses and bacteria, outbreaks and epidemics. • Implement prevention strategies including education/consultation for front line team members. • Lead infection prevention and control surveillance, collection and implementation of best practices and data analysis. • Lead identification of trends/patterns and manage investigations of infections. • Manage a team of IPAC professionals • Ensure IPAC policies and procedures are reviewed and updated according to legislative requirements, government directives and best practices. • Perform other duties as assigned What you bring: • A Bachelor’s degree and/or graduate degree in a health science discipline such as Med Lab Sciences, Epidemiology, Nursing, Microbiology, or related field. • A Postgraduate course in Infection Control • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) in good standing • Exceptional Infection Prevention and Control management knowledge and skills. • Infection Prevention and Control chapter membership in good standing • Minimum 5 years' experience in infection prevention and control in an acute care setting • Management/supervisory experience preferred. • Experience in leading and implementing change. • Advanced written and oral communication skills. • Advanced computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel). • Able to work independently and take initiative with minimal intervention. • Able to independently prioritize work responsibilities while maintaining a high degree of efficiency. • Cooperative and flexible team player, able to build and maintain positive working relationships. • Demonstrates the ability to articulate infection control problems and solutions to all levels of the organization, and to external agencies and stakeholders • Demonstrated management experience in a unionized facility • Demonstrated experience in managing a department budget Southlake Health is fully committed to a culture of belonging and an inclusive environment that encourages every team member to lead within their role, generate innovative ideas that reinforce our mission and goal to create a healthy workplace where our community can thrive.
