As the Senior Manager of Taxation, you will be responsible for managing all Canadian and US tax filings and provisions as well as being responsible for all tax related accounting and compliance matters. In addition, you will have responsibilities for researching, developing, and implementing tax initiatives impacting our organization. This role requires advanced knowledge of both Canadian and US tax laws, exceptional analytical skills, and demonstrated leadership in guiding teams and managing cross-border taxation issues.

Responsibilities
Oversee the preparation and review of all Canadian tax returns and filings, including SR&ED claims, T106s;
Manage US federal and state tax filings, including Forms 1042 and 1120;
Coordinate and review cross-border tax reporting and calculations/analysis, including T1134, surplus calculations and transfer pricing;
Work closely with the reporting team to prepare all period end tax provisions, supporting schedules and financial statement note disclosures;
Assist the financial planning team by preparing all tax projections required as part of the annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, strategic plan processes;
Act as the lead for all CRA and IRS income and commodity tax related inquiries;
First point of contact with external auditors for all tax related issues and inquiries;
Research taxation issues, assess the impact of changes in Canadian and US tax legislation and provide recommendations as required;
Develop and implement tax planning strategies for Canadian and US tax efficiency, including structuring cross-border transactions;
Work closely with the Director of Finance and external tax advisors on tax structuring for mergers and acquisitions along with annual tax planning strategies;
Special projects as required.
Qualifications
CPA designation (Canada) required; US CPA considered an asset;
Completion of the In Depth tax program;
Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in tax, with significant exposure to both Canadian and US tax matters
Knowledge of commodity tax regulations;
Experience with SR&ED filings;
Knowledge of US Federal and State tax regimes an asset;
Excellent written and verbal skills;
A self-starter with strong attention to detail and a focus on meeting deadlines;
Ability to prioritize, solve and where appropriate, escalate issues;
Strong decision making and analytical skills;
Proficiency with TaxPrep and MS Office, specifically Word and Excel.
