Leading the fundraising and alumni relations activities for University of Toronto Scarborough, the Development & Alumni Relations Office (DARO) supports the campus and over 65,000 alumni. Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Director of Alumni Relations and working on a high-performing team of advancement professionals, the Alumni Engagement Officer supports and executes the strategic development, effective implementation, tracking and measurement of innovative programs, communication strategies and volunteer initiatives aimed at engaging U of T Scarborough alumni in support of the mission and strategic objectives of the campus and University. Responsibilities include all aspects of program management, including comprehensive internal and external communications planning, event budgets, data collection and updating, positive relationship management, issues management, results tracking and post implementation analysis, review and recommendations for modification and enhancement of future programming.
The Alumni Engagement Officer is responsible for all programming and delivery related to alumni relations. This includes, but is not limited to, U of T’s tri campus Alumni Reunion, class/year reunions, UTSC Homecoming, academic and non-academic departmental efforts to engage alumni, alumni volunteer management such as alumni associations and networks, University governance and mentorship opportunities, as well as, facilitating alumni support of student programs ensuring to provide value add opportunities for alumni and students, alumni recognition programs, and one- off engagement opportunities to enhance alumni affinity with the institution.
The Alumni Engagement Officer leads new initiatives to engage alumni and community stakeholders, encourage volunteerism and philanthropic priorities. Updating alumni data is a key focus as well as creating strategies to improve data integrity. The incumbent is accountable for creating sustainable strategies that measurably increase alumni engagement and support important alumni relationships and co-operation by ensuring that all programming aligns and integrates with the Defy Gravity, U of T Scarborough and Development and Alumni Relations Office brand and engagement strategies.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing and determining benchmarks and metrics for alumni programming and advancement activities
- Developing and implementing alumni engagement activities that support strategic objectives
- Maintaining ongoing relationships with people whose co-operation is important to the University
- Implementing programs that allow current students and alumni to engage with one another
- Advising alumni association and their working committees on the development of programs, events and activities
- Conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities
- Overseeing tasks related to the production and dissemination of communications/marketing materials
- Formatting data collected for presentations and reports
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum three years' experience in a frontline facing post-secondary education role, preferably in Alumni Relations, with a proven track record of success in developing and leading multi-faceted alumni programs and/or fundraising campaigns and initiatives
- Demonstrated experience advising alumni association committees and their working committees on the development of programs and initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
- A high degree of tact and sensitivity with an ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to take a broad perspective and link strategies to plans and objectives
- Exceptional relationship management and customer service skills to help maintain ongoing relationships with people whose co-operation is important to the University
- High level of attention to detail with superior time-management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to interact successfully with alumni, peers, volunteers, prospects, donors, staff and faculty
- Professional presentation, demeanor, and confident; establish credibility and trust quickly with internal and external stakeholders

Assets (Nonessential):
- Familiarity with ARBOR or database management systems
- Experience with Canva, InDesign, Adobe Illustrator or other creative design applications

USW Pay Band 14 -- $91,677. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $117,242. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
