We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Financial Analyst (Finance Transformation) to join our Finance team in Edmonton. This hybrid role combines advanced financial planning and analysis (FP&A) responsibilities with finance transformation leadership. The successful candidate will drive planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis while also leading initiatives that align finance operations with broader business strategies. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of finance at BGE by optimizing processes, integrating digital tools, and ensuring financial accuracy, efficiency, and strategic impact.
The day-to-day activities of our Financial Analyst will include:
Financial Planning & Reporting: Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes. Deliver monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports with actionable insights, supporting strategic decision-making across the organization.
Process Improvement & Digital Tools: Identify and implement process enhancements across FP&A and accounting. Leverage tools like Power BI and ERP systems to automate workflows and improve forecasting and reporting accuracy.
Change Management & Enablement: Drive adoption of new finance processes and technologies by executing change management strategies, working as the department’s analyst in the upcoming transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365). This role will play an active part during the first 12 months in the project, creating and delivering user training to support smooth implementation and long-term success.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Finance, IT, and business leaders to align financial operations with enterprise goals. Facilitate workshops and convert complex financial data into clear, strategic business recommendations, including input on business cases and investment opportunities.
The right candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications on their resume or in the initial phone screen:
CPA designation with a minimum of 2 years of experience in FP&A or a related financial analysis role
Proven track record in finance process improvement or transformation projects, with specific experience in D365 would be an advantage
Strong skills in financial modeling, data analysis, and dashboard development (Excel, Power BI)
Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics or similar)
During the interview process, we will be looking for behaviors that demonstrate:
Familiarity with enterprise transformation programs and/or change management initiatives
Knowledge of frameworks such as TOGAF, Lean Six Sigma, or Agile (preferred)
Experience in business case development, automation tools, or cloud-based finance systems

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
A strategic mindset with the ability to influence across departments and leadership levels
