Mohawk College’s Marshall School of Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship is seeking a licensed Electrician (309A or 442A) to join our Electrical team in a dual-role position focused on teaching and curriculum development with a expertise in Renewable Energy Generating and Storage Systems and High Voltage Service and Operation. This opportunity supports both the Electrical and Electrical Engineering Technician – Power (403–433) programs at the Stoney Creek Campus.
Reporting to the Associate Dean, Electrical, Transportation & Innovation, the successful candidate will provide academic leadership and technical expertise in the area of Renewables and High Voltage.
This hybrid role involves:
Designing curriculum focused on High Voltage and Renewables
Delivering engaging instruction in electrical courses
Supporting student learning using both traditional and emerging technologies
What you’ll be doing:
Phase 1; Curriculum Development – High Voltage Service and Operation and Renewable Energy Generating and Storage Systems
In Fall 2025, Design and develop course outlines and curriculum modules for the High Voltage (3 credit hour theory) and Renewable Energy (2 credits, 1 credit hour theory and 1 credit hour lab) courses in the Electrical Engineering Technician – Power program,
Collaborate with instructional design specialists and faculty to incorporate adult learning principles and Universal Design for Learning (UDL),
Ensure curriculum aligns with Skilled Trades Ontario Electrical Trades Curriculum 309A / 442A sections 3390 and 3377,
Recommend relevant tools, technology, and instructional resources that reflect current industry usage and safety standards.
Phase 2; Instructional Duties
Commencing January, 2026, teach theory and hands-on applications within Electrical programs, specializing in High Voltage Service and Operating and Renewable Energy Generating and Storage Systems.
Utilize a student-centered, inclusive teaching approach for both postsecondary and apprenticeship learners.
Create and deliver learning activities and evaluations that align with industry and academic standards.
Use the college’s eLearning system to support in-person, hybrid, and online delivery models.
What you’ll bring to the role:
Certificate of Qualification as a Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A) or Industrial Electrician (442A).
Certificate of Apprenticeship or equivalent credential in the electrical trade.
Minimum of 5 years’ recent experience in the electrical field, including work with high voltage service and renewable energy generating and storage systems is preferred.
Experience in teaching and/or curriculum design, especially in adult education or postsecondary/apprenticeship settings, is preferred.
Familiarity with UDL principles and the use of educational technology is preferred.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
Learner-centred approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods.
Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
