This position is responsible for teaching and evaluating the Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life Programs, for all assigned ages and levels. Some Lifeguarding duties may also be required. Program locations are at the Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre and the Kinsmen Community Outdoor Pools.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position will:
Represent the City of Belleville with appropriate actions and conduct.
Instruct the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life programs in accordance with their standards.
Be responsible for the safety and supervision of the participants and ensure the rules and regulations set out by the Department and/or outside organizations, are followed.
Be knowledgeable of City Programs and have strong public relation skills.
Attend all aquatic staff training and meetings as scheduled.
Complete weekly lesson plans, worksheets, and final report cards for each student.
Evaluate the program participants on an on-going basis during each session and submit results to the Head Instructor for review.
Provide regular feedback to learners and their parents on their progress.
Maintain a tidy and clean facility.
Assume the responsibility of lifeguarding, as scheduled.
Complete and submit required forms, i.e. injury forms, lesson plans, daily log sheets, etc.
Enforce all pool and facility rules.
Keep physical fit, alert, and ready to respond in any emergency.
Perform first aid as needed.
Perform other related duties as required by the Recreation, Culture & Community Services Department.

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications:
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check ("CRC") with Vulnerable Sector Check ("VSC") prior to commencing work in this role.
A Minimum of sixteen (16) years of age prior to employment.
Hold the following minimum valid qualifications:
Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross or National Lifeguard Award
Standard First Aid and C.P.R. ‘C’ Certification
Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Award
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous customer service experience is an asset.
Previous experience working with children is an asset.
Previous experience in lifeguarding would be an asset.
