We lead the institutional Marketing and Recruitment Plan, power the brand strategy and operate key digital marketing channels.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Marketing and Recruitment, the Recruitment and Events Strategist will lead the development of SAIT’s recruitment strategy through data-driven planning, critical analysis, and innovative experience design. You directly supervise student practicums and hourly Student Recruitment Assistants, managing their performance and development, while also guiding event staff and cross-functional teams to ensure strategic alignment and consistent execution.
You blend creativity with analysis, applying human-centered design to enhance the recruitment journey from awareness to application. You collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver inclusive, targeted initiatives that support SAIT’s enrolment goals.
As a confident and engaging representative of SAIT, you attend recruitment events across Alberta and Canada, nurturing relationships and expanding into new markets. Your exceptional communication skills help you build strong connections with prospective students, families, educators, and community stakeholders, while championing a seamless and impactful recruitment experience.

The Role
Strategic Recruitment Planning:
Lead targeted recruitment strategies for diverse audiences, aligned with institutional priorities and SEM goals.
Identify new markets and personas to close enrolment gaps.
Collaborate with academic leadership to support program-specific recruitment through data-informed recommendations and active participation.
Develop engagement plans for influencers and referral networks.
Provide strategic insights to senior leadership on long-term recruitment risks and opportunities.
Recruitment Experience & Optimization:
Enhance recruitment touchpoints by applying user experience principles and reviewing the student/influencer journey.
Collaborate on event design and CRM optimization to improve targeting, personalization, and follow-up.
Use data and feedback to recommend experience improvements aligned with SEM priorities.
Champion inclusive, brand-aligned recruitment experiences and oversee implementation of best practices.
Relationship Development, Outreach & Travel:
Build and maintain relationships with prospective students, counsellors, and partners to strengthen SAIT’s visibility.
Represent SAIT at events across Alberta and Canada, deepening engagement in priority and emerging markets.
Strategically develop feeder markets through consistent outreach and data-informed strategies.
Coordinate logistics and ensure professional representation at recruitment events.
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing:
Supervise and support student practicums and recruitment staff, including hiring, onboarding, and performance management.
Act as a connector across departments to drive unified, data-driven campaigns.
Share market insights and contribute to cross-functional projects focused on engagement and messaging.
Identify and address gaps in recruitment effectiveness, advocating for the domestic student journey.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Education or related discipline.
5-7 years of marketing and communication experience.
5-7 years of student recruitment experience.
1-2 years in a Supervisory role.
Class 5 driver’s license and personal vehicle is required.
Certifications in event planning, project management, or related fields are an asset.
Training or certification in UX/CX design and/or recruitment analytics is an asset.
Training and familiarity with CRM systems preferred.
Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
