Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in assessment, goal setting and program planning.
Evaluates client needs and develops short-term plans to meet such needs.
Supporting children with a range of support needs in their childcare setting.
Supports full inclusion of one or more children in a childcare, afterschool care, or life skills program, and implementing strategies identified by the inclusive childcare consultant(s) defined in the participant's support/care plan.
Facilitates physical, recreational, educational, social, and vocational activities.
Recognizes, analyzes and manages potential emergency situations such as members aggressive behavior to minimize potential ensures no harm comes to the members and/or the public. Reports problems to the supervisor.
Reviews and evaluates member progress and adjusts programs as required.
Identifies social, economic, recreational, physical, vocational and educational services in the community that will meet member needs. Maintains liaison with other agencies, professionals, government officials and the community.
Promotes inclusivity among peers while providing appropriate accommodation.
Builds and maintains positive relationships with members’ parents/guardians, ensuring effective and ongoing communication with families.
Maintains accurate documentation of participants, including daily case notes, statistical data, and program reports.
Qualifications:
Diploma in human/social service field
One (1) year relevant experience working with children and youth with support needs or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle, as travel between clubs is required
Current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain
ECE or ECE Assistant certification considered an asset
Hours: 25 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Rate of Pay: $25.95 per hour
