Job Purpose
The incumbent is responsible for the provision of timely information and documentation to support the Logistics Department in the ordering as well as the inbound and outbound movement of goods for the Company. This position reports to the Manager-Logistics.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares Purchase Orders for the company
Expedites Purchase Orders from the Suppliers to the designated receiving locations
Supervises the Logistics staff
Assists with the coordination of the training of the Logistics personnel
Liaises with the Customs Brokers and related parties for the clearance of incoming goods
Coordinates the movement of the goods via the various modes of transport for the company
Assists the company in obtaining the best mode and freight costs for the movement of goods
Prepares documentation and make arrangements for the Warehouse and Inventory Departments to receive and cost incoming shipments
Monitors and reports on key performance indicators for the Logistics Department
Liaises with Suppliers to facilitate timely movement of goods
Liaises with Shipping, Freight, Skybox and Courier providers to arrange for competitive rates
Ensures that the necessary documentation is made available for timely receipt of incoming shipments
Updates internal systems to reflect the current status of incoming orders
Ensures that marine insurance coverage is available for relevant imported shipments
Assists in ensuring that the relevant customs duties, import taxes and handling charges are paid for timely clearance of imports
Coordinates the necessary investigations for insurance/import claims for the company
Assists with the necessary documentation for item maintenance on the company’s IT systems
Assists with the organizing of export shipments via courier, air or sea on behalf of the company
Assists with the local and staff purchases
Assists with the queries related to imports from other internal customers
Monitors/reviews and improves systems and procedures in conjunction with the Manager-Logistics
Ensures the maintenance and adherence to ISO Standards
Demonstrates active adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, and foster HSE awareness
Perform other related duties as assigned by management
Academic Qualifications & Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Management, Supply Chain Management or CIPS Level 6
A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar capacity
A minimum of two (2) years’ Supervisor experience
Working knowledge of Logistics and Supply Chain Management
Working knowledge of Shipping and Customs Procedures will be an asset
Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft suite of products and use of ERP Software
