Position Summary:
The Temporary, Casual HR Assistant will play a critical role in advancing our mission by assisting in vital HR functions and service delivery.
- Maintaining the employee database
Data entry (employee tombstone information, rate of pay, etc.)
Initiating new hires, transfers, and terminations in the HRIS/payroll system
Ensuring the confidentiality of all materials;
Performing file audits as required; and notifying Managers/Supervisors when it comes to the attention of the HR Assistant that documentation is required e.g.: a missing Criminal Records Check
- Employment Letters
Verifying accuracy of information and drafting various employment letters
- Recruitment
Set up job postings internally, manage company recruitment tool
Work with managers to create job postings
Support HR Business Partners with the recruiting process
Email applicants to managers for review
Other duties as Assigned
Participates in various departmental meetings when required, promotes and represents Covenant Care/Living in a professional and positive manner.
Formal Education:
Post secondary education (certificate, diploma, degree) in a related field is an asset.
HR Management diploma or certificate acceptable and/or combination of education and experience
CHRP/CHRL designation preferred.
Experience:
Experience in working in human resources and HRIS
Experience in recruitment and knowledge of onboarding
Experience in a unionized environment; healthcare or continuing care experience preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Excellent verbal and communication skills required
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work unsupervised
Ability to work with staff all levels
High level of discretion, diplomacy, and tact in handling sensitive information
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS reporting tools
Skills:
The HR Assistant - requires an in-depth knowledge of administrative policies, procedures and Collective Agreement knowledge pertaining to HR Operations (Human Resources)
The HR Assistant – requires the ability to work independently
In-depth knowledge of HRIS system and the Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent communication and human relations skills
