What will you do?
Manage and respond to consumer and subrogated complaints and small claims involving product liability or service-related disputes.
Represent the company in Small Claims Court and Consumer Protection Ontario or other administrative bodies, where applicable.
Draft legal documents including settlement agreements, demand letters, affidavits, and court forms.
Conduct legal research as required on issued including consumer protection legislation and warranty obligations.
Assist in internal investigations related to customer disputes and incidents.
Maintain accurate and organized legal files and case tracking systems.
Liaise with internal departments to gather facts and support legal strategies.
Monitor and report on changes in Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, Sale of Goods Act, and related legislation.
Provide advice and guidance to legal clerks on claim management and resolutions.
What do you bring?
Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO).
Minimum 2 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in a corporate or consumer-focused legal environment.
Trial experience is required.
Strong understanding of Ontario’s consumer protection laws, and small claims procedures.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and drafting skills.
Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience handling product-related claims, warranty disputes, or consumer complaints.
Familiarity with regulatory bodies such as Consumer Protection Ontario.
Knowledge of risk management and compliance frameworks in a corporate setting.
