Join Strathcona County’s Recreation, Parks and Culture department as the Golf Course Superintendent with Broadmoor Golf Course. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining top-quality course conditions, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and overseeing the day-to-day operations that make Broadmoor a premier golf destination in our community.
This position is responsible for all aspects of grounds maintenance and recreation operations ensuring guest safety, high-quality experiences, and continuous operations. Success in this role is achieved through strong planning, budget management, and a commitment to delivering outstanding services to our guests and residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Operations team by identifying staffing needs, hiring and training employees, and fostering a skilled and motivated workforce that supports the successful operation of the course
Develop and implement annual maintenance plans within approved budget to ensure that the golf course conditions are of high quality while ensuring revenue targets are met
Coordinate with clubhouse and golf professional contractors to provide quality guest experiences for all guests and events
Respond to user, neighbor and other concerns related to on-course issues
Maintain current understanding of industry trends, golf course design, and new technology to ensure the golf course remains relevant, safe for guests and staff, accessible to all guests, as well as operationally efficient
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver events as required
Qualifications and Skills:
This position requires theoretical knowledge of turfgrass management obtained through a degree and 2 years of industry experience or a diploma and 4 years of industry experience
Member or eligible for membership in the Alberta Golf Superintendents Association, Canadian Golf Superintendents Association, Golf Course Superintendents Association of America or equivalent
Supervisor/leadership training and experience is required
Alberta Pesticide Applicator Certificate with landscape and industrial classes is required, Alberta Certified Pesticide Trainer Certificate would be an asset
Knowledge of golf course maintenance and construction, irrigation maintenance and operation and golf course equipment management is required
Experience with cross country ski operations would be considered an asset
Conditions of Employment:
Submission of a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s license and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
