What you'll do:
This position is available for up to 22 months with possibility for extension.
Reporting to the Team Manager, Infrastructure and Operations this position is responsible for the administration, maintenance, analysis, and deployment of SCIC’s corporate network communications’ infrastructure.
Administer and maintain SCIC’s infrastructure including recovery systems, remote access wireless systems, security systems, server operating systems, network services, virus protection systems, and network applications.
Analyze and troubleshoot infrastructure-related hardware or software issues and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
Make recommendations for infrastructure improvements and new technical projects based on research and budget considerations.
Coordinate with external government and consultant IT departments on operations of head office and customer service office systems.
Conduct predictive and trend analysis on SCIC’s infrastructure, such as storage forecasts based on current growth and hardware requirements.
Research, develop, and implement security technologies in accordance with security policy, including firewalls, network architecture, VPNs, and user account policies.
Perform security analysis of the corporation’s existing architecture and develop strategies for future enhancements, such as secure ID implementations and network station upgrades.
Act as the first line of support to the service desk for network-related hardware or software issues.
Implement and document infrastructure procedures, provide technical assistance, and serve as a technical knowledge base to technical analysts/technicians.
Act as a subject matter expert and technical lead for a variety of projects.
Support and maintain cloud infrastructure, with a focus on Microsoft Azure services and integrations.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this position, you will need the completion of a diploma or degree in Computer Science, supplemented by three to five years of related experience.
Knowledge of Data Centre hardware, software, and architecture, including blade centres, SAN switching and SAN disk systems, network switching and routing, and designing systems with disaster recovery components that meet business needs.
Experience with LANs/WANs, networking, hardware troubleshooting, and PC-based software, particularly enterprise and campus-wide solutions.
Excellent network and server administration skills, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and virtual machine management.
Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services is required.
General understanding of cryptographic methods and experience in designing and deploying cryptographic controls.
Strong documentation and mathematical skills.
Knowledge of Cisco networking and Palo Alto firewalls is considered an asset.
A criminal record check is required.
Should the successful candidate participate in the Crop Insurance or AgriStability Pro-grams, their account must be in good standing.
