This multifaceted role, which serves as the Chief of Staff equivalent, involves tackling complex assignments, shaping branch initiatives, integrating strategic plans, and providing decisive leadership. You'll ensure seamless executive function and daily functions, manage critical projects and budgets, and offer vital insights for fiscal responsibility. What will you do?
Proactively manage the Branch Manager's priorities, optimizing executive time and ensuring effective representation
Exercise impeccable judgment and discretion with highly confidential and politically sensitive information
Draft, edit, and finalize critical executive correspondence, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and accuracy
Design and manage the governance structure for executive-level meetings, meticulously tracking and executing approved action items
Coordinate the development and deployment of annual strategic plans and operational priorities, monitoring and reporting on progress against corporate goals and KPIs
Analyze workflows and implement operational efficiencies, driving continuous improvement and reducing administrative friction
Support and lead complex organizational change initiatives, assisting in the development of governance frameworks and policies for consistent adherence to regulations
Rapidly comprehend complex procurement, supply chain, and contract management scenarios to distill technical data into concise executive briefs, identifying critical risks and viable strategic options
Assist with budgetary coordination, detailed expenditure tracking, and analyzing the fiscal impacts of major procurement decisions
Apply mandatory experience navigating the political, legislative, and operational dynamics of a large public sector organization
Lead and influence multidisciplinary teams and project groups to drive consensus and achieve complex corporate goals
Establish and maintain robust relationships with key internal business partners, utilizing high-level diplomacy to resolve conflicts and achieve shared organizational outcomes
Coordinate branch engagement, fostering effective communication and responding to employee feedback
Education in Commerce, Public Administration, Political Science or a related discipline
Progressively responsible strategic and management experience, including managing and working with external consultants
Assets:
Training in financial management, public administration, government relations, project management and/or change management
Skills required for success:
Ability to work effectively with senior management positions in the Branch and City
Proven ability to learn and adapt quickly, with knowledge and experience in diverse areas such as political analysis, human resources, customer service, communications, and project management
Advanced communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence key decision-makers
Future-focused and proactive approach to work, demonstrating professionalism, initiative, and the ability to work independently

Conditions of employment & work environment:
Up to: 1 permanent full-time position
Hours of work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Salary: $90,239.61 - $112,800.95 (Annually)
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and office
This position is eligible for the EDO program (Earned Day Off)
Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position, there may be a cost associated with this requirement
