HR Systems Business Analyst
Exciting 18-month contract in the insurance industry supporting HR technology transformation. Work on global AI-driven initiatives in a hybrid environment based in Waterloo or Toronto. • Weekday schedule from 9 am to 5 pm.

Responsibilities:
• Lead the analysis and documentation of business and user requirements through discovery sessions with HR and business stakeholders.
• Update and maintain functional specifications, process maps, and validate UI/UX using human-centered design methodologies.
• Define and oversee risk-based test strategies, including functional and non-functional test planning, scope definition, coverage targets, and reporting.
• Create and manage test plans, requirements traceability matrices, and regression suites to support reliable and repeatable releases.
• Coordinate testing activities across system, integration, user acceptance, and regression cycles, ensuring traceability and audit compliance.
• Organize and facilitate user acceptance testing, including participant readiness, script development, triage, and sign-off.
• Conduct defect triage meetings and drive resolution across internal and vendor teams.
• Monitor and report on quality metrics, providing insights to improve future project delivery.
• Coordinate accessibility, performance, privacy, and reliability testing in collaboration with platform and security teams.
• Ensure readiness of testing environments and use of anonymized or synthetic data in non-production settings.
• Support vendor release assessments, participate in change management, and ensure alignment with the release calendar.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to the development of templates, checklists, and process documentation.
• Work effectively in a global environment, flexing across time zones and project types (projects, enhancements, BAU).
What you will need to succeed:
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business, Human Resources, Information Systems, or a related discipline is preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in a business systems or HR systems analyst capacity, supporting enterprise-level HR technology.
• Proven experience in test leadership, including defining test strategies, managing execution, and handling defect management.
• Practical experience with HR SaaS platforms such as Workday, Cornerstone, EdCast, Gallup, or Workhuman.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, including Agile and Waterfall models.
• Hands-on experience with tools like JIRA, Xray, or Test Plans for managing tests and tracking defects.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with experience leading workshops and coordinating user acceptance testing.
• Exposure to human-centered design practices, with CHRP/CHRL or PMP certifications considered an asset.
• Familiarity with accessibility and performance testing concepts, and HR data privacy standards.
• Experience coordinating with vendors or managed service providers within HR technology ecosystems.
• Technical aptitude or exposure to configuration or coding is a plus.
