| What we are looking for
The Director, Product Enablement plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between product strategy, product development and execution in a complex, highly regulated environment. This individual does not directly manage product lines; rather, they act as a “force multiplier", building the systems, processes, and frameworks that enable product teams to execute efficiently, consistently, and with compliance rigor.
This role translates complex product and regulatory information into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences, from internal teams to government officials, and ensures that product ideation, prioritization, and development go through a well- documented, understood and disciplined process that has been created, and deployed, and overseen by the Product Enablement team. The Director will oversee the team that acts like an internal consulting team, which ensures Product Strategies and corresponding roadmaps are not only created but also understood, adopted, and monitored against KPIs
| A day in the life
Your responsibilities as the Director, Product Enablement includes but are not limited to:
Build and lead the Product Enablement Function
Establish a scalable Product Operational Framework for planning, launch, and performance measurement for ongoing Product Management. This includes frameworks for Product Strategies, the Annual Product Planning process, short and long term Roadmap frameworks, the product.
Development framework and process, and a disciplined, agile Product Ideation process and framework).
Design and optimize product governance processes (including Stage-Gate) to strengthen consistency, accountability, and compliance.
Oversee the product technology stack (e.g., Jira, Confluence, analytics tools) and enable data-driven decision-making.
Drive Product Planning and Roadmap Management.
Develop and maintain a repeatable, transparent annual product planning, and budgetary, and prioritization process, roadmap process that links product OKRs to corporate priorities.
Implement and manage roadmapping and analytics tools to provide a single source of truth across teams.
Create and oversee the process to ensure Annual Product Plans and Roadmap refresh continue to support the longer term Product Strategies and Roadmaps, cross product lines, and other operational, policy and strategic priorities and roadmaps.
Deliver consolidated, data-driven reports for leadership on progress, dependencies, and risks.
Communicate, Educate and Enable Product Management
Create and maintain comprehensive product documentation, including release notes, FAQs, and training materials.
Design and deliver internal and external training programs to promote understanding and adoption of new products.
Act as the central internal consultant regarding Product Management and Development disciplines, processes and frameworks.
Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration and Alignment
Partner with Product Management, Policy, Rules, Research, Corporate Strategy, Operations, IT, Government Relations and Regulatory Oversight and Member Relations to ensure new products meet regulatory standards and member needs.
Build and mentor a small, high-performing team to support ongoing enablement and operational excellence.
| What you need to be successful
Undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in Product Management, Product Operations, or Product Enablement within the payments/financial services sector, including a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a people leadership role.
Proven success implementing scalable product frameworks and process improvements.
Experience within regulated sectors, such as financial services, payments, fintech, or government.
Demonstrated expertise in establishing and scaling product governance and operational systems.
Experience embedding regulatory and compliance controls directly into the product lifecycle.
Strong proficiency with data analytics and performance measurement, including defining and generating actional insights.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Strong problem-solving orientation, capable of navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in fast-paced, evolving environments.
Eligibility to successfully complete background checks that will be carried out by Payments Canada, including criminal, credit, identity, employment, and education checks.
| Salary range
Based on qualifications and experience: $134,837 to 168,546.
