Position Summary:
Reporting to the President and Senior Operating Officer, and accountable to the Senior Director of Operations, this position serves as a key driver of strategic initiatives and provides operational leadership in areas as determined by organizational priorities. The Director, Strategic Initiatives, leads efforts to elevate the Covenant experience across all programs and settings, fostering a culture of adaptability, flexibility, and meticulous attention to detail. This role champions system-wide improvements, leveraging innovative approaches and best practices to ensure operational excellence and exceptional service experiences, while driving measurable improvements in outcomes.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), this position will require being a self-starter with strong business acumen, a passion for delivering exceptional service experiences, and a track record of building strategic partnerships to drive continuous improvement.

Primary Role and Responsibility:
As a leader, you will be accountable and responsible for the following:
Model the organization’s mission, vision, and values, consistently representing Covenant professionally and positively.
Collaborate effectively as a professional team player, supporting the achievement of Covenant’s mission, vision, and values.
Strategic Support: Collaborate with the COO to develop and execute new initiatives that support the organization's mission, vision, and values.
Operational Management: Implement efficient systems, processes, and best practices to optimize service delivery, cost control, and resource allocation.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance experiences, streamline operations, and introduce innovative solutions.
Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships external and internal stakeholders to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
Partnership & Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals and high-quality service execution.
Measure goals toward success and provide regular reports on progress
Monitors the effectiveness and efficiency of projects
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strategic Planning & Execution
Lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that support organizational goals and priorities.
Partner with executives to translate strategic objectives into detailed, measurable action plans.
Monitor market, industry, and competitive trends to inform strategic decision-making.
Develop business strategy and success metrics for new initiatives.
Program & Project Management
Oversee cross-functional projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met.
Establish governance structures, project tracking systems, and reporting mechanisms.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies for key initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Facilitate alignment among leadership, business units, and partners on key strategic priorities.
Prepare executive presentations, board materials, and communications related to strategic initiatives.
Serve as a liaison between departments to promote transparency and accountability.
Experience:
8 years of experience in management and leadership
Formal education in hospitality services, culinary services, healthcare and environmental services.
Advanced professional designation and education preferred
Equivalent education/related experience will be considered.
Multi-site proven leadership within senior/continuing care (Independent Living, Supportive Living, Long-term care) or hospitality industry.
Successfully led projects that involved major change and multiple stakeholders
Successfully led project that required business acumen and an entrepreneurial mindset
Adaptable and flexible to drive business initiatives for service excellence
Valid driver's license and year-round vehicle access are required for travel within Alberta.
