Internships @ Wealthsimple
At Wealthsimple, we offer 4 to 8-month internships that are open to co-op and non-co-op students, and recent grads. During your internship, you will have the opportunity to contribute to projects that are changing the landscape of financial services for Canadians. You will be on a team that supports your growth, provides mentorship, and connects you to the broader Wealthsimple community!
Our internship program follows a hybrid work model, where you’ll be working from our Toronto headquarters on Wednesdays and Thursdays. This structure offers the flexibility of remote work, while also providing the collaboration, connection, and mentorship that come from being together in person.
Eligibility
✔ Currently enrolled as a student at a Canadian post-secondary institution or technical bootcamp
✔ New graduates - Within 6 months of your graduation date
✔ Available to work full-time hours
✔ Residing in Canada
✔ Able to commute to our Toronto HQ on Wednesdays and Thursdays
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Director, Securities Finance, this intern will help optimize the securities lending operations and business processes at Wealthsimple.
This role will be closed for applications on Sunday November 9th 11:59PM EST.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Support the securities finance trading desk with daily operations including transaction data entry, reconciliations, and post-trade inventory management.
Review corporate actions instructions/notices and process reorgs accordingly.
Investigate contract compare breaks and determine the proper course of action to rectify discrepancies.
Identify and validate recall notifications for escalation for further attention.
Liaise with the Middle Office, Settlements, Product and Treasury teams as required.
Assist in providing general trade desk support as required.
Work independently on special projects and other tasks as assigned.
Troubleshoot breakdowns in daily functions, identify blockers and implement solutions to resolve issues.
Learn about the fintech industry and gain insight in the securities finance market.
What you'll bring:
Is currently pursuing a degree in Business, Finance or related field
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High attention to detail, a quick thinker, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Nimble and adaptable; able to think outside the box and shift one’s mindset as the market conditions changes without notice
Ability to simplify, improve, and document processes by leveraging technology and collaboration with cross-functional teams
Introductory level understanding of financial markets and principles
Highly proficient in MS Excel and Google Sheets; able to build macros and formulas with significant quantities of data
Experience with SQL and Bloomberg is an asset
