Role Expectations & Summary:
Our Individuals living at Scenic Acres are looking for a Community Support Worker for their daily need. The expected diagnoses for the Individuals are Autism, Lennox-Gestalt Syndrome, ADHD, Anti-Social Personality Disorder, OCD, ADHD, Schizophrenia, FASD. Individual may display physical behaviour of concerns. A behavioural support plan will be provided to advance and achieve Individual's goals. The position requires to support Individuals with driving individuals to medical appointments, work, and daily activities, supporting and teaching individuals to be more independent inside and outside of their home. We are also looking for someone who is comfortable driving in all quadrants of Calgary. This position will require driving and attending medical appointments, sporting activities such as swimming, etc and helping individuals become more independent.

You are compassionate, attentive, and passionate towards working with people with disabilities. You currently attain skills and qualities such as team player, outgoing, collaboration, good communication, and loves the outdoors . You are comfortable with participating in social and recreational activities, advocating for the Individual in the community, and encouraging healthy living styles & social interactions. You have a good knowledge of community events, activities and resources that could be useful to integrate the Individuals. You are professional, take ownership, and willing to follow agency's policies and procedures. You are solution driven, where you can identify the need of support for the Individual's apprehensions/concerns. You are willing to take the time to understand and know your Individual and act/respond in their best interest, while maintaining professional boundaries. You have previous experience working with Individuals with disabilities; therefore, you are willing to research, develop, and implement programs to provide for growth the Individual. You can easily manage administrative work to create rapports for the Individual.
Schedule & Benefits:
This permanent position is 40 hours/week at our Scenic Acres group home, which is in Northwest (NW) area of Calgary.

Monday, Tuesday, Friday: 3:00pm - 11:00pm
Saturday, Sunday: 7:00am-3:00pm
There will be some flexibility needed in the schedule; i.e. start the shift, get extended working hours, or be flexible to work at other group home due to staff needs. The starting pay rate for this position will be $21.19. After three months probationary period, you will be eligible for health and dental benefits along with 5 flex days after the six months of employment.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of a Diploma in the Human Services sector or Disability Sector
Must provide valid class 5 drivers license and have a reliable vehicle with minimum $2,000,000 liability insurance
Intermediate in computer skills and administration skills
Provide medical, technological, environmental, physical, and behavioural support
Minimum required training in Emergency First Aid & CPR Level A
Preferred Requirements:
Previous knowledge about how to support an individual with autism
Relevant trainings such as Non-violent Crises Intervention, Abuse Prevention Response Protocol, and Positive Behavior Supports, etc.
Previous work experience in a group home location would be an asset
Enjoys going outdoors and doing energetic activities
