Parking Enforcement & Logistics is responsible for the Parking Enforcement Program (On-Street, Off-Street, Private Parking), Business Licensing operations, Smoke-free Ontario regulations, and overseeing special events branch-wide.
You enforce the provision of the City of Ottawa Traffic and Parking by-law, and perform related administrative duties under the direction of a Supervisor, By-law Enforcement.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of Grade 12
Minimum of 2 months of experience preferably in the enforcement of statutory offences or related field
Experience in the communications and public relations fields is an asset
KNOWLEDGE
General knowledge of the City of Ottawa Traffic and Parking By-law
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to work under stressful conditions and cope with people in difficult situations
Ability to communicate effectively orally to the general public and all work related contacts
Acts as a representative of the City of Ottawa and promotes good public relations
Demonstrated customer service attitude
Must be prepared to work shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays
Ability to meet the physical demands as assessed (physical demands checklist is available on request) and to patrol regardless of weather conditions
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing
Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check (Level 2) with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.; Police record checks completed by a third-party company will not be accepted.
Driver’s License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
