Integrated Schizophrenia Recovery Unit
This program serves adults aged 18-64 with complex schizophrenia-related conditions requiring intensive support. The focus is on recovery, helping clients reintegrate into the community safely and independently. Referrals from healthcare providers are required.
Qualifications:
Graduate of recognized Diploma Program in Practical Nursing;
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Knowledge of CNO Standards regarding RPN scope of practice.
Understanding of MHA and relevant legislation.
CPR/AED Certification within the last 2 years.
Completion of Prevention of Violence in the Workplace training (C.P.I.) required.
Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Technical skills such as glucometer reading, vital signs, injection skills, physical assessment/mental health assessment, catheterization, medication administration, O2 administration, basic wound care, suctioning, safe patient handling, bladder scanning, ECT recovery, skin care and feeding.
Ability to develop therapeutic relations with patients.
Ability to function as a member of the inter-disciplinary team.
Basic computer skills required.
English level A- is mandatory in oral comprehension, expression, reading and writing. Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous nursing experience working in psychiatric/mental health specialization.
