Position Summary:
Responsible for performing assigned Locksmith tasks, as well as lock maintenance duties, throughout all THP facility. These tasks must be done according to policies, procedures and legislated regulations
The main purpose is to support a reliable, functional and safe health care environment by applying attention to detail, completing tasks in a timely manner, and maintaining high quality standards
Ability to read and properly interpret the Master Keying Guide
Advanced knowledge of lock systems is required
Key Qualifications:
Must have Basic Locksmithing certification.
Successful Completion of a Locksmith apprenticeship, preferred
Preference also given to members of The Association of Ontario Locksmiths
Five (5) years of Locksmith experience in Healthcare, with references of previous work experience
Experience in Assa Abloy lock system preferred.
Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent
Basic computer skills
Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
Must be a self-disciplined individual with well-developed organizational skills
A positive work and attendance record is essential
Ability to work under minimal supervision to complete assigned tasks, with exceptional prioritization skills
Excellent customer service skills
Previous experience with the following tasks required:
Cutting new or duplicate keys and stamps with identification
Doors and door hardware installations and maintenance
Maintaining, updating and auditing key inventories
Servicing and adjusting key machines as required
Disassembling locks; repairing and replacing worn tumblers, springs, and other parts
Changing lock key combinations by inserting new pins into locks
Troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining both mechanical locking and electronic key card systems
Opening cylinders when keys are not available
Using hand and power tools applicable to trade
Troubleshooting/diagnosing AC/DC circuits in door sensors/control mechanism
Diagnosing and resolving operational issues with sliding, revolving and by-fold doors
Repairing/adjusting various push paddle door openers
Sourcing various parts and provide comparative quotes to management for approval
Other duties as assigned, including Preventative Maintenance.
Physical Demands:
Considerable walking, standing, bending and lifting – up to 50 lbs.
Standing for long periods of time in one spot
Ability to work through periods of high demand
