Sterling Crane is looking for a results-driven finance professional to fill the position of Project Controls Analyst based in Edmonton, AB. Reporting to the Manager Financial Planning and Controls, the successful candidate will bridge the gap between operations and finance by providing timely cost reporting, analyzing and monitoring trends, and playing a large role in assisting monthly, quarterly and yearly financial close activities. JOB TYPE: Permanent full-time salaried employment. LOCATION: Edmonton, AB (Hybrid). HOURS: Monday through Friday, within business operating hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM MST (40 hour/week). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with Branch Administration to ensure accurate daily invoicing and cost reporting. Provide timely financial support to branches with a “roll up your sleeves” attitude. Prepare weekly forecasts with Branch Managers and perform various analyses to improve the accuracy of Branch and operational forecasting. Prepare monthly accruals (Revenue and Expense) and perform in-depth analysis of revenue and contribution margins. Support Turnaround/Shutdown events starting from planning, execution and close out, by providing accurate financial support (some travel to sites will be required). Calculation and reconciliation of annual rebates and audit requests. Fulfill other financial duties by working with internal departments. Prepare other ad hoc reports as per changing business needs and requirements. QUALIFICATIONS: University degree or College Diploma (or equivalent) in Finance or a related field. Has obtained CPA designation or is actively pursuing professional accounting designation is considered an asset. A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a similar position within the construction industry, working closely with operational and site-based teams. Advanced Excel skills, including frequent use of large databases and is able to develop or create more efficient reporting tools in Excel. Experience with customer invoicing systems is considered an asset (SAP, Ariba, Track, OpenInvoice). Experience in Microsoft D365 is considered an asset. Strong business acumen, financial skills, integrity and strategic thinking abilities. Ability to troubleshoot issues and find solutions with proven problem-solving skills. Excellent organization, planning and execution skills with attention to details. Proactive, initiative and collaborative team player. Strong verbal and written communication skills with outgoing attitude.
