Position Summary
The Forklift Driver is responsible to move materials through the plant floor as required, ensuring that the production lines are fully stocked with materials and racks.
What You'll Be Doing
Follow the packing schedule to ensure adherence to customer demand. Delegate work to the packing team based on the schedules.
Responsible for shift hand off at the start of each shift to get a status update from the previous shift
Move material into and out of the station with the combi lift to ensure packers can continue to work
Ensure all packing is done as per customer requirements based off the packaging instructions, notes, and packing diagrams
Ensure each Webster tester is calibrated at the beginning of each shift
Liaise with the Quality Technician for all quality issues to ensure resolution during shift
Audit one ticker per day per station for hardness and accuracy of quantity
Complete shift report and packing schedule each shift and submit to the Packing/Shipping Manager
Ensure that the packing team is following break time schedules and report any deviations
Deliver wood cutting requirements to the wood cutter ahead of racks being packed
Remove damaged spacer sleeves and scrap bent spacers. Deliver good spacers back to the extrusion saw for re-sleeving
Check inventory on all packing material and report when more material needs to be ordered
Close out all racks systematically once physically completed
Ensure scrap is physically removed and reported in EPICS in real-time to ensure demand and inventory accuracy
Adjust lots when required in EPICS
Assign cleaning tasks to packers throughout the shift and ensure any missing or broken items at the cleaning station are replaced or repaired
Assist in providing training and support to new workers
Maintain a safe and clean workspace at all times
Responsible to follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all Can Art Company Policies
What You Bring
High school diploma or equivalent
Must have a valid forklift license (counterbalance)
Minimum 2 years' experience driving a forklift
Experience in a manufacturing plant is an asset
Experience with a combi lift is an asset
Required Skills
Must be able to read and write in English
Able to work at a quick pace with strong attention to detail
Must be a quick learner with a professional attitude
Excellent multitasking and time-management skills
Team player that is able to work with little to no supervision
Knowledge of health and safety best practices in a manufacturing environment
