Technician Assistant, Internal Medicine Location: Vancouver, British Columbia Employment Type: Full Time Vancouver Animal Emergency and Referral Centre is looking to add a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to our Internal Medicine team. The position is extremely dynamic, and offers an interesting and diverse day-to-day experience! The Internal Medicine service focuses on excellence in patient care and client communication. This position is ideal for someone who has above-average attention to detail, organizational skills and a strong desire to learn the “why” behind tasks and procedures that are completed on a daily basis in the service. Key Responsibilities Animal care such as feeding, walking, and cleaning kennels Animal handling for the Specialist and Registered Veterinary Technologist to perform examinations and procedures Assisting with positioning for radiographs, computed tomography scans and fluoroscopy Lab sample processing File organization and maintenance Setting up for, assisting with, and cleaning up after treatments and procedures such as endoscopy, chemotherapy administration, bone marrow aspirates and joint taps Other duties as directed by the Specialist or Registered Veterinary Technician Qualifications Preference given to candidates who have completed a Veterinary Assistant Certificate Program or who have previous experience in veterinary practice Experience taking care of animals; walking, general cleaning of kennels, and other general pet duties Organizational skills Able to perform multiple tasks throughout the day Great people skills; working with team members, assisting clients and other people interactions throughout the day Schedule: Hours of work will generally be Tuesday through Friday, 8am-6pm, however candidates should have some flexibility to be available on evenings and weekends, should coverage be needed in other areas of the hospital.
