Role As our new Senior Acoustics and Vibration Engineer with a passion for working on architectural related projects, you will play your part to contribute to our global acoustics and vibration team’s vision to be the world’s most trusted and innovative authority in acoustics and vibration consulting, recognized for delivering exceptional results that shape environments where sound and vibration enhance the world. In this position, you’ll work closely with other acoustic consultants/engineers on a diverse array of private and public sector clients across North America. Whether you’re working on new and retrofit projects for noise and vibration control, conducting field measurements, or leading the development of new sound and vibration models, you’ll feel good knowing your work will positively impact people for years to come. We work in most areas of acoustics and vibration including building design/architectural, environmental and underwater acoustics. Responsibilities Acoustics and vibration assessments/design inputs on challenging projects including: Building and land development for various project types such as residential, commercial, healthcare, education, performance venues, and community. Industrial, manufacturing, transit, mining, power and energy sites including permitting, environmental assessments, complaint investigations and auditing. Sound and vibration monitoring campaigns for construction, baseline collection, complaint investigations. The day-to-day experience is dependent on the nature of projects within the business at the time but typically include: Development of new models and applications related to sound and vibration. Conducting and supporting others with sound and vibration monitoring and measurement campaigns, throughout the year. Working to streamline and standardize data collection and analysis. Preparing and presenting technical reports, along with QA/QC review of reports. Coordinating projects to maintain schedule and budgets including proposals, coordination, management. Contribute to business development and growth for SLR and the acoustics and vibration team. Supporting the development and review of QA/QC procedures. At least 5 years of experience in consulting expected. Degree in engineering, physics, or related field; master’s degree preferred. P.Eng., or eligible for P. Eng. certification in Ontario. Expert on the fundamentals and approaches used to measure, predict and evaluate acoustics, noise and vibration. Proficiency with computational and office suite software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Teams and SharePoint, MATLAB, finite element modeling packages, etc.). Experience with sound and vibration modeling software (e.g., CadnaA, SoundPLAN, CATT, Odeon or EASE, SAP). Staff training and mentoring experience are desired and expected as part of the role. Flexible, multi-tasking work habits, and ability to work independently or as part of a team. Highly organized, reliable, creative, innovative, adaptable and energetic worker as well as a fast learner. Excellent and confident written, oral communication and interpersonal skills. Proven business relationship experience for acoustics and vibration project is preferred and is part of the role. Driven to exceed expectations and push for excellence. Must be able to live and work in Canada, and preferably to the US for occasional project work as required.
