Reporting to the Fleet Manager, the Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic performs duties and tasks related to the preventative and corrective maintenance of a variety of construction equipment and vehicles. The ideal candidate loves working with their hands, takes pride in their work and likes the challenge of figuring out how to make things work.
What you will be doing:
Performs preventative and corrective maintenance by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing all systems associated with heavy equipment and vehicles (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic)
Prioritizing repair requirements and schedule
Inspect and test repaired equipment to ensure work meets operational performance and safety standards
Evaluate equipment parts for reuse, repair or replacement
Document time, parts used, and repairs completed in shop system
Ensures shop, tools and equipment are kept safe, clean and organized
Assist team members as needed
Occasional travel to job sites to assist field mechanics on large jobs
Discuss preventative techniques with drivers/operators to minimize future repairs
Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications you should have:
Relevant experience with heavy equipment
Excellent diagnostic skills and technical aptitude
Troubleshooting and decision making
Reading, writing and numeracy
Works well with a team or independently
Solid work ethic and safety minded
Strong English communication skills, both oral and written
Proactive and resourceful
Valid G licence and clean abstract
What we offer:
$35+/hour (based on experience)
Permanent Full-time work
Shift (Monday to Thursday: 7:00AM to 04:30PM & Friday: 7:00AM to 03:30PM)
