Know our team
Nutrition International’s Corporate Services (CS) unit is a dedicated team of Finance and Administrative experts with extensive global experience. The unit leads on providing global Accounting, Finance, Grant Finance & Compliance, Global Risk, Assurance & Fraud, Contracting and Procurement, Facilities Management, and Information Management and Information Technology (IM/IT). Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for a Finance Manager, Corporate Accounting to be based in Ottawa, Canada, working 2 days/week in-office.
About you
You are someone with a University degree in accounting, finance or business and completion of a recognized Canadian accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA). You have a minimum of five years of accounting experience and a minimum of three years in a financial management role. You have good judgment in analyzing data and information and adapting procedures to accommodate new or unusual situations. You are adept at identifying process improvements and workflow efficiencies while maintaining robust oversight and internal controls.
You have demonstrated strong people leadership skills and have sound technical and professional knowledge of finance and accounting, especially Canadian reporting standards. You have the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly. Experience with Oracle NetSuite is considered an asset. Knowledge of international banking practices is considered an asset.
Fluency in English is required. French will be considered an asset.
About the role
In this role you will:
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE
· Coordinating tasks daily with the AP team to ensure that payments are effectively flowing through the regular cycle, including receiving invoices and authorizations for payment, processing the AP in Oracle NetSuite, and processing the payment at the banking institutions.
· Weekly reviewing of the payment files at the bank and managing escalations of payment issues.
· Supporting Visa reconciliations and employee expenses.
PAYROLL
· Act as a backup to the Senior Payroll & Benefits Officer for bi-weekly payroll preparation and reconciliation.
· Coordination with B&C team regarding allocation and coding of LOEs.
CORPORATE ACCOUNTING
· Supports the production of accurate and timely financial information, including reviewing and approving journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis, etc.
· Coordinates month-end and year-end cycles.
· Assists in the development of policies and procedures and ensures that NI policies and procedures are being followed, and an adequate internal control environment is being maintained.
· Prepares ad hoc reports as required.
OTHER
· Coordinates the preparation of audit working papers for the consolidated external audit.
· Provides technical and analytical support to the Corporate Accounting Unit.
· Supports workflow optimization initiatives, including improving & standardizing processes, better utilizing technologies, and determining optimal functional structures.
· Coordinates the signing, notarization, and attestation of corporate documents for all offices.
· Supports the organization in the use of Oracle NetSuite, including training for the role of Administrator.
Provides supervision and support to Senior Finance Officers and Finance Officers.
