Why? If you find yourself asking that question a lot, then you’re in the right place! The Disability Data & Analysis team is looking for an individual whose analytical mind and curious nature can navigate through a variety of data and come out with a result on the other side.
As a Data Analytics Specialist you will use your analytical skills, technical abilities and critical thinking mindset to analyze data, look for trends, and provide insights to help us understand and improve our operations.
With a focus on continuous improvement, you will refine existing analyses and explore new techniques to support the organization’s decision makers.
What you will do:
Analyze, Report and Present Disability Morbidity Results
Provide regular trending and variance analyses to support understanding of disability morbidity KPI’s
Work with Group Division partners to leverage various data sources and provide insights on operational impacts to financial earnings
Complete complex requests received from senior management to provide insight on business performance
Disability Analytics
Partner with business leaders and actively seek out and identify areas of opportunity to provide advanced analytical solutions
Utilize project management skills to plan, execute and deliver on a variety of analytical projects
Follow the analytics lifecycle to design, develop and maintain advanced analytical models
Maintain and improve the quality of our data by performing data profiling on key data sources
Providing Insights and Presenting the Data Story
Communicate and illustrate observations, results and recommendations in a creative and audience appropriate manner
Present findings/observations of analyses and performance/output of analytics models to senior management
What you will bring:
3+ years of applied analytical, problem solving and decision-making experience
Post-Secondary education with a familiarity of Data Science and/or Statistical concepts
Expertise in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Microsoft Excel and Access
Expertise or experience with Data Mining, Data Visualization and Data Modeling tools such as: SQL, Python/R, Power BI, Tableau etc. is considered an asset
Knowledge of group insurance and the disability product is considered an asset
Experience in planning and managing projects is considered an asset
Well-developed organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks with changing priorities
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Reliability Status Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. This is a personal security status that is required as a condition of employment before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website. The cost of submitting these checks will be covered by Canada Life.
The base salary for this position is between $52,800 -$87,900 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
