This strategic leadership role is part of a diverse, multi-disciplinary group responsible for the planning, design, and life cycle management of architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems. The team oversees more than 100 staffed facilities and over 1,000 unstaffed sites across the country, including air traffic control centers, air traffic control towers, flight service stations, flight information centers, office spaces, and a wide network of facilities supporting flight navigation, aircraft communication, and surveillance. The incumbent will serve as an engineering authority, with a focus on mission-critical facility infrastructure including but not limited to; buildings, civil site services, power transmission and distribution (including backup power systems such as generators and uninterruptible power supply systems), HVAC, building automation, plumbing, drainage, and telecommunications infrastructure. The role also contributes to the adoption of green energy technologies and the implementation of sustainable design practices that support NAV CANADA’s environmental and operational objectives. This Manager will lead initiatives either as a Project Manager, overseeing multi-disciplinary capital projects from concept to completion, or as a Design Engineering Manager, guiding technical teams in the development of robust, compliant, and sustainable engineering solutions. The role demands a strategic mindset, strong leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of integrated building systems and infrastructure. Responsibilities can also span the full life cycle of facility infrastructure assets and include project development, concept design leadership, construction and commissioning support, maintenance planning, field engineering services, and long-term asset renewal strategies to ensure reliability and sustainability. Experience and Knowledge Requirements Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering leadership roles, including construction project management and/or infrastructure design Proven ability to lead and/or manage multi-disciplinary teams through either design, construction, or commissioning phases Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, drainage, power distribution, automation) and civil infrastructure Experience with constructability reviews, site coordination, and contractor management Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and Visio Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial oversight for capital and operational expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of engineering solutions and alignment with budgetary targets.
