Sinai Health and Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of Toronto is inviting applications for the position of uveitis and retinopathy of prematurity specialist. The appointment is a part-time clinical position with an expectation of at least 20% work at Sinai Health (clinical, research and education). The effective start date of this appointment can be as early as January 2nd, 2026.
The successful candidate will teachmedical students, residents and fellows, participate in on-call duties, and will contribute to the academic enterprise of the department. The successful candidate may be asked and expected to participate in the quality improvement, education, and research committees in the Department of Ophthalmology at Sinai Health System. Graduate degrees or other certified training in quality improvement, epidemiology, data management, public health and/or medical education is an asset.
The successful candidate will provide clinical sub-specialty care in uveitis and retinopathy of prematurity screening. The clinical responsibilities will be primarily based at Sinai Health (Mount Sinai Hospital and Bridgepoint sites) and may include but may not be limited to: 1) clinical care in uveitis and general ophthalmology at Mount Sinai site, Department of Ophthalmology, 2) ROP screening at Mount Sinai site, neonatal ICU, 3) general ophthalmology clinic at Bridgepoint site as required.
The successful candidate should possess research skills as evidenced by advanced training and publication history. The candidate must hold an MD degree or equivalent, have fellowship training in uveitis, and be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto at the rank of Lecturer or higher. The candidate must currently hold or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. This position is resourced with clinic space, minor surgical room time and diagnostics.
