Status: (1) Contract Full Time position, (duration: 18 months)
Salary Range: $61,368 - $76,710 per annum + comprehensive benefits
Hiring Range: $61,386 - $69,039

Location: 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga; various travel throughout Peel Region & off-site
Hours of work: 35 hours per week; Monday through Friday

Join Peel Region’s Oral Health team as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) and play a key role in improving access to oral health services for children and families through the Healthy Smiles Ontario (HSO) program.
As a valued team member, you’ll collaborate with dental professionals, support program delivery in various clinical and community settings, and help shape brighter, healthier futures—one smile at a time.
Your Impact
Facilitate access to care –guide residents through public oral health programs with empathy and professionalism
Support screening and preventive services – assist in providing dental services within the scope of a Level II CDA, ensuring high standards of infection control and client care
Collaborate and coordinate – work closely with your oral health team and community partners to support case management and client navigation
Engage and educate – respond to public inquiries and promote oral health awareness, while respecting the diverse needs of Peel’s population
Contribute to program success – maintain accurate client records, complete administrative duties, and perform data entry into OHISS and other health databases
Be mobile and flexible – deliver care across Peel, using your personal vehicle to reach various community locations
What You Bring
Education & Certification Required
Level II Certified Dental Assistant in good standing with the Ontario Dental Assistants Association
CPR Certification (current and valid)
Experience & Role Requirements
A satisfactory Level 1 Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station (third-party background checks will not be accepted)
Minimum of 2 years of full-time clinical dental experience (or equivalent)
Experience working in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
Familiarity with ODA procedure codes and dental documentation practices
Skills & Abilities
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a client-first mindset
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Proven ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing work environments
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data entry
Comfort working independently and collaboratively in a team-based setting
Understanding and respect for cultural, linguistic, and social diversity
Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and daily access to a vehicle
Nice to Have
Experience with the Oral Health Information and Support System (OHISS)
Multilingual abilities to better serve diverse communities
Knowledge of or experience in a public health setting

Work Mode & Travel Requirement: In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This position requires additional in person days per week throughout the Region of Peel, particularly during the school year and is subject to change over time.
This is a hybrid role that requires travel to various dental clinics and community settings across Peel Region as well as some opportunity to work off-site. You’ll be actively involved in face-to-face care and community outreach.
