Job Title Senior Client Accountant Job Description Summary Senior Accountant role responsible for providing full cycle accounting services using appropriate and consistent accounting principles for Commercial Real Estate properties (retail, office and industrial). Responsible for the preparation of financial reports for properties, projects, or business units; preparation of analysis of transactions or financial information; assistance with budgeting, and general ledger maintenance. Responsible for the use of sound technical skills and solid judgment to provide leadership within the accounting team. Job Description Essential Job Duties: Perform Full Cycle Accounting include preparing financial reports and analysis of accounts and transactions. Prepare adjusting journal entries for accruals, payroll, mortgage, leasing fees, amortization, estimate of percentage rent earned if applicable etc., account reconciliations, and assist with cash management and AP. Review financial transactions and analyze reports based on an understanding of a client’s operations and tenant leases (includes assessing the reasonability of accounting estimates of cost recoveries etc.) Review reports and analysis and make appropriate accounting adjustments to ensure accrual financial statements are complete and accurate. Prioritize and maintain responsibility for a high-volume workload for multiple clients. Prepare year end audit working paper files and assist with audit queries Support forecast and budget processes as directed by manager. Prepare comprehensive financial reporting packages timely and accurately in accordance with internal controls and client requirements Prepare government remittances and filings such as HST returns and payments. Research, analyze and effectively communicate complex accounting issues and escalate appropriately. Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients and property management in a timely manner. Apply internal financial policies and procedures and escalate inconsistencies, issues and recommendations to the attention of management Prepare and review fixed asset ledgers to ensure items are properly and consistently capitalized and amortized based on owner requirements; Calculate and record straight-line rent as required. Provide support and guidance by coaching Accountants as required by management; lead team Assist with onboarding of new assignments or take a lead role on projects as required. Performs other related duties as required or requested. Education/Experience/Training: University degree in finance or accounting.
