Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) to join the Perioperative Services department. As an APN, you will support overall operation of the perioperative program by acting as a resource for staff; assist the manager in ensuring resources are appropriately allocated; create/develop policies and procedures to support best practice. Collaborating with both the Clinical Manager Operating Room and Peri Anesthesia Services, and the Director of Perioperative Services, you will support the goal to provide patients exemplary care and positive outcomes.
Summary of duties, but not limited to:
Provide leadership and act as a resource for staff, coaching and monitoring performance and workload
Act as a role model for nursing colleagues, and other members of the health-care team, including students
Contribute to the knowledge, clinical skills and client care abilities of team members and other health-care providers (e.g., by responding to clinical questions and sharing evidence)
Develop educational strategies, plans, and content (e.g. policies, processes, technologies) in consultation with unit leadership team and clinical staff; and evaluate post-training outcomes
Ensure the daily delivery of services is provided according to the highest professional practice standards and regulatory requirements and aligned with organizational policies and procedures
Support staff participation in personal and professional career development
Assist managers with performance appraisals of staff as required
Collaborate with People & Culture, Occupational Health, and management to ensure a safe working environment
As a role model and champion, you will work to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.

Qualifications:
Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing required
Master’s Degree in Nursing required; additional relevant certifications are an asset
At least five (5) years’ experience in perioperative and/or peri anesthesia nursing environment
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse in an acute/hospital setting
Current Basic Life Support certification
Evidence of hospital committee or external committee work
Experience with policy and process development
Experience with developing policies and procedures and educational packages for staff and patients
Evidence of strong mentoring, teaching, organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to work well in stressful situations
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with all team members
Excellent computer skills including word, power point and excel and competency in information and communication technology
Demonstrated pattern of good attendance and performance
