About the Role
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide a technical leadership for the execution / development of EO/IR projects and contracted programs
Develop Concepts of Operation, system specifications and interface control documents
Work collaboratively with Software Engineering to design, test and document new product features and ensure traceability to top level requirements
Support flight test and customer demonstrations setup, troubleshooting and performance characterization
Maintain requirement traceability in IBM DOORS
Support Program Management and Project Engineering during execution of customer funded programs and new product developments
Support product level design and analysis including trade studies and architecture evaluations
Perform functional verification tests and support system integration verification/validation tests
Generate qualification plans, qualification summary reports and qualification by similarity reports
Participate in and provide inputs to system design reviews
Ensure deliverable product meets the design objectives
Collaborate with Senior Engineers on the creation of new product features and sensors
Keep in synchronization with Systems Engineering industry trends and new technology that may be relevant to L3Harris Wescam present and future development
Recommended Skills & Knowledge
Knowledgeable about Systems Engineering life cycle process
Knowledge of EO/IR imaging systems, optics, stabilization and/or image processing
Understanding of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704 and RTCA DO-160 standards with respect to environmental testing
Strong leadership, planning, organizational and analytical skills
Ability to deal directly with internal and external customers
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
Programming skills in Matlab, Python, and/or database management is desirable
User level knowledge on IBM Doors an asset
Familiarity with MBSE modelling an asset
Hands-on experience in applying machine learning to EO/IR systems an asset (target recognition, object tracking, machine vision)
Knowledge of navigation systems, GPS denied operations and inertial navigation systems an asset
Desired Education and Experiences
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of progressive technical and project experience, or
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, or
In lieu of a degree, minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
Meets the requirements of the Controlled Goods Registration Program and is eligible for a Canadian government security clearance
