Landscape Maintenance Foreman

Garden City Tree & Landscape Ltd. is seeking an experienced Landscape Maintenance Foreman to lead one of our Vegetation Management crews. This hands-on leadership role ensures high-quality maintenance, excellent client experience, and safe, efficient operations across residential and commercial properties.
The ideal candidate brings strong horticultural knowledge , proven crew leadership, and the ability to provide on-site advisory support and basic/intermediate landscape design input.
What You’ll Do:
Lead a crew of 1–3 team members on daily, weekly, and seasonal maintenance operations.
Oversee small softscape installations and contribute simple/intermediate design and layout concepts.
Perform and guide detailed horticultural tasks: mowing, pruning, weeding, edging, mulching, and plant health care.
Diagnose plant health issues and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain clean, safe, organized job sites, vehicles, and equipment.
Ensure safe equipment use, conduct minor maintenance, and report issues.
Act as the on-site representative for clients. Address questions, identify site needs, and provide basic advisory support.
Conduct site assessments for enhancements, soil/mulch needs, plant replacements, irrigation concerns, and improvements.
Train, mentor, and develop Junior and Senior Technicians.
Take part in winter work, including snow removal and anti-ice applications, as required.
Qualifications :
5+ years of experience in landscape maintenance
Minimum 2 years of experience in landscape maintenance with leadership responsibility.
Post-secondary training in horticulture or landscape management
Combination of education and experience considered.
Red seal landscape horticulture is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong horticultural knowledge and ability to diagnose plant health issues.
Ability to sketch simple planting layouts or enhancement concepts.
Understanding of regional plant species and basic/intermediate landscape design principles.
Competency with landscape equipment and tools, including truck and trailer operations.
Basic irrigation troubleshooting.
Strong leadership, communication, and client-service skills.
Digital literacy for reporting and time tracking.
Solid understanding of workplace health and safety.
Comfortable working outdoors, handling physical tasks and using ladders.
Certifications
Class 5 Driver’s License (required)

Year - round work and long - term stability
Compensation
$30-$35 per hour depending on skills and experience.
Schedule:
Regular: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Seasonal Hours (May to September , 2026): Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
Work Location:
Different Greater Victoria work sites.
