The Health Care Aide (HCA) in F5 supports nurses and the healthcare team in delivering safe, compassionate, and efficient care to patients with a variety of acute medical conditions. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, supporting mobility, maintaining patient hygiene and comfort, and helping with admissions, discharges, and transfers. Working in a fast-paced environment, the HCA must respond quickly to changing patient needs, adhere to infection control protocols, and communicate effectively with both patients and staff.
Personal Support Worker or Health Care Aide Certificate or nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses at McMaster University or nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses in McMaster University and Mohawk College collaborative program or nursing student with successful completion of all level 1 courses in the Mohawk College Diploma program
Computer familiarity or willingness to learn computer skills as required
Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, teamwork skills
Demonstrated initiative and judgment appropriate for the position
Ability to accept assigned or delegated functions
Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly
Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
Ability to lift using appropriate lifting techniques and bend, push and pull using good body mechanics
