The Opportunity:
We are seeking applications for the full-time position of Copy Editor (Digital) working on the websites for the Vancouver Sun and The Province. The editor is a highly motivated, experienced journalist with superior news judgment, eager to experiment in the digital space and engage with readers. The position is in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, and reports directly to the Digital Editor.
What you'll do:
The successful applicant will work collaboratively with other editors and reporters to edit and optimize stories and video content on a variety of platforms for an online audience.
This journalist will embrace the newsroom's mission to help a diverse population thrive amidst the complexities of living in an expensive, fast-growing region surrounded by natural beauty.
Experience with SEO, video and audio tools, social media and editing both news features and breaking news stories is a must. As is excellent news judgment, strong editing skills, and an ability to work both independently and collaboratively on projects
Strong commitment to audience engagement through multi-media initiatives such as commenting, online and video chats, and digital newsletters.
Who you are:
Superior digital editing and inter-personal skills are essential.
Ability to work collaboratively with other journalists to ensure timely and comprehensive coverage.
Position is remote and based on a nine-day fortnight rotation with superior pay, pension, and benefits. The role involves shift work including Saturdays and some nights.
