The Position:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting, maintaining the accounting records for four entities, handling remittances and other government requirements, and working with Project Managers and Site Supervisors to generate project invoices & processing payments. Along with supporting the preparation of accurate financial reports in accordance with local generally accepted accounting principles and Eclipse corporate policies; monitoring and analyzing financial metrics so profitability goals are achieved; and maintenance of a comprehensive set of internal controls, while delivering the Eclipse Vision and Entrepreneurial Culture.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Book general business transactions, including but not limited to sales orders/invoices, accounts payable, accounts receivable and other journal entries in MS Dynamics 365 Business Central accounting software
Input and process wire payments, online bill payments, EFT payments and, account transfers
Audit and verify accuracy of general ledger coding as it pertains to budget allocation
Preparing monthly progress draws for work in progress
Prepare monthly invoices & collect accounts receivable and make all bank deposits
Prepare monthly bank and credit card statement reconciliations
Assist with Purchase order preparation
Assist with the timely completion of the month-end reporting packages with Canadian GAAP
Assist with Director of Finance and General Manager with fiscal year-end
Prepare bi-weekly payroll and process all required payroll and tax remittances via Dayforce Ceridian payroll service
Complete reconciliation between MS Dynamics 365 accounting & Project Manager job costs
Complete quarterly remittance of HST, WSIB and other government payments monthly
Complete year-end tax forms including T5018 Subtrade report
Monitor expenditures to budget and report discrepancies
Other ad hoc accounting duties as required.
What We’re Looking For:
Business Diploma/Degree specializing in Accounting
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation or relative designations or certifications a plus
3+ years professional experience in an Accounting department
MS Dynamics 365 Business Central (or Microsoft Nav/Microsoft Great Plains) software experience preferred
Experience in automation industry or project accounting environment
Solid understanding of accounting and accounts payable/receivable principles
Must be detailed oriented and work well with a team
Proficiency in MS Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
Self-starter with a positive work ethic & able to see a task through to its conclusion
Excellent organizational skills and focus
Must be able to manage confidential material and information with discretion.
