Working closely with the Section Leadership Team, the Data Analyst is responsible for supporting department activities like the development, maintenance and coordination of data collection, data analytics, data governance and data management practices, and providing reporting expertise on types of measurement and data initiatives. The scope of responsibility for this position includes an understanding of structured/unstructured data, different data collection methodologies, data quality, data governance and different software used for data collection and management within the department. This position is also responsible for consulting with internal and external clients, collecting, preparing and extracting data and information, conducting research and analysis, and preparing reports.
What will you do?
The Analyst will contribute to the development of team strategy, as well as provide advice and support on horizontal and vertical implementation of a cascading system of corporate, department and section strategies and plans
With a continuous improvement perspective, the Analyst will aid in standardizing data governance and management processes and procedures to effectively and efficiently maximize the use and reporting of data management systems
They will coordinate with different department strategy teams to optimize use of systems and its reporting through analytics and feedback
The Analyst will create reporting products and develop basic queries and follow methodologies to populate data and results into defined reporting templates
The Analyst will create and maintain visualization dashboards to support Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) and help prepare reports that effectively communicate trends and patterns using relevant data
They will provide technical expertise to support department reporting and analytics and provide review and identification of deficiencies in existing systems and reports to ensure the accuracy and completeness of reporting data. This includes aiding with standardizing processes and procedures to more effectively and efficiently maximize the use and reporting of data management systems
The Analyst will create appropriate documentation that allows stakeholders to understand the steps of data analysis processes and duplicate or replicate the analysis if necessary
They will provide training and guidance to end users in the use of Business Intelligence/Departmental and Web Analytics tools and the analysis/understanding of information

Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, data & information management, sciences, statistics or a related field is required
Minimum 2 years of diversified and progressive experience in the area of data information analysis, including research and preparation of and reviewing data reports
Assets:
Proficiency and use of business intelligence tools and dashboarding software (e.g. Tableau, Socrata, Google LookerStudio, R) is required
Familiarity with statistical analysis, data visualization, and data cleansing tools and techniques. Experience in business analysis
Skills required for success:
Possesses experience in business analysis, data mining techniques, trend analysis, modeling, and predictive analytics
Experienced in assembling and analyzing data from multiple systems to establish history, analyze trends, and generate reports and forecasts
Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose system issues, determine appropriate analytical approaches, and independently synthesize information to address complex business problems
Possesses strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, coordinate, and concurrently manage multiple analytics projects and tasks efficiently
Able to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and clients, fostering positive relationships
Exhibits a sense of ownership, strong strategic thinking, flexibility, innovation, and a commitment to providing high-quality service as a team player
Ability to determine and implement appropriate analytical approaches and independently synthesize information in addressing complex business problems
Demonstrated ability to transform data, identify patterns, issues, or data analysis needs for the business
Ability to diagnose system problems related to data collection and data retrieval through research and discussion with users and then develop and implement effective solutions to resolve the issues
Strong documentation and report writing skills
Ability and skill in thinking strategically and proactively
