We are searching for a Financial Operations and Systems Specialist to join our growing Finance team to help us dynamically optimize our systems. This role gives you the opportunity to help revitalize our finance processes by uncovering inefficiencies and increasing connectivity to help drive our teams growth. Your hunger for curiosity and problem solving allows you to get to the bottom of complex issues and come up with effective long term solutions. You can own daily finance checks and balances while keeping an eye on the bigger picture of process improvement.
You’re technically savvy with a vested interested in discovering and learning new programs and tools that can help with long-term efficiency across the board. Reporting into the Director of Finance, the Financial Operations and Systems Specialist will play an instrumental role in building efficiency for a best in class finance team.

Your day to day - let's break it down!:
Systems and Data Management (40%)
Measures of Success: High accuracy and integrity of financial data across all systems. Timely completion of system reconciliations, uploads, and audits. Minimal system downtime or disruptions for finance operations.
Maintain and administer finance systems (ERP, Expense Management Tooling, among others).
Ensure high data integrity across multiple platforms, reconciling discrepancies and resolving errors.
Perform regular system audits, data validation, and reconciliations between systems and the GL.
Support integrations, imports and exports between systems, even when APIs are not available.
Process Improvement and Automation (30%)
Measures of Success: Documented and standardized workflows for key finance processes. Reduction in manual effort or process cycle time (e.g., faster month-end close). Positive feedback from internal stakeholders on process efficiency. Number of processes successfully improved or optimized per quarter/year.
Identify inefficiencies in finance and operational workflows and propose improvements.
Standardize recurring processes to increase accuracy and reduce manual work.
Collaborate with finance and cross-functional teams to implement best practices.
Monitor process performance and recommend adjustments as business needs evolve.
Automation & Documentation (20%)
Measures of Success: Increased automation of recurring tasks, reducing manual work hours. Comprehensive and up-to-date process and system documentation available for the team. Successful adoption of new tools or automated workflows by the finance team. Reduction in errors due to clearer process documentation and automated checks.
Create templates, scripts, or reports to automate repetitive tasks and data flows.
Document workflows, processes, and system procedures to ensure continuity and scalability.
Maintain process guides and checklists for critical finance operations.
Support adoption of new tools and technologies to streamline operations.
Cross-Functional Support & Backup (10%)
Measures of Success: Increased automation of recurring tasks, reducing manual work hours. Comprehensive and up-to-date process and system documentation available for the team. Successful adoption of new tools or automated workflows by the finance team. Reduction in errors due to clearer process documentation and automated checks.
Act as a point of contact for finance-related inquiries.
Coordinate between FP&A and Accounting teams to ensure clear understanding of how financial data, reporting, and operational processes impact each function.
Provide backup coverage for core finance functions, including AP, AR, and month-end close tasks.
Collaborate with parent company finance teams to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
Support ad hoc projects and requests from business units or leadership.
What you will bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
2-3 years’ work experience in a related field
Professional designation is progress or completed are a plus, but not required (CA)
Intermediate Excel/Google sheet skills (V-lookup, pivot tables, complex formulas, macros, etc.) are an asset.
Experience with BI tools or data analysis (Power BI, Tableau, Looker) is a plus
Experience working with Sage Intacct (accounting software), Salesforce (CRM) and Financial Force, Concur (Employee expenses), and Mavenlink (PS tool) is an asset.
